Sinio Castle
Sinio, town placed in the Langhe area, preserves, up high on the main square, an ancient medieval castle, restored and transformed into a luxury hotel.
The Sinio Castle dates back to 1100 and is one of the oldest in the Langhe.
The current appearance of a fifteenth-century stronghold is due to the Marquis del Carretto who replaced it to the ancient medieval building. Thus was built a late-Gothic palace with a quadrangular tower, this one, unfortunately, was demolished when the castle was sold by the counts Vassallo of Castiglione to be used as a rural residence.
In the last century the Sinio Castle has been remodeled several times, without however losing its connotation of noble residence.
The façade overlooking Piazza Marconi is decorated with elegant mullioned windows spaced out by single-lancet windows and with a fresco of the "Monregalese school" depicting the Madonna and Child with Sant’Antonio Abate and San Sebastiano on the sides.
Below thre's an ogival door with the del Carretto coat of arms.
The interiors have been expertly restored to accommodate the hotel, according to the style of the medieval era with terracotta floors, exposed wooden beams and stone walls, furnished with antique furniture to further emphasize the setting.
