Agenzia in the Pollenzo Real Estate - Bra
Dukes, princes and kings of the Savoy family left a great heritage in Piedmont made up of residences, castles, palaces and public buildings of important architectural and historical value. The Pollenzo Real Estate in the municipality of Bra is also part of this heritage.
Pollenzo, an ancient village with Roman origin, was the county seat of the Visconti patrician Antonio Porro who built here in 1386 a defensive castle that was quickly transformed into the feudal residence of the Marquis of Romagnano.
In 1800 it was chosen by Carlo Alberto as a holiday resort where he created an agricultural company with vineyards, farmhouses, a hunting reserve, cellars and an agency aimed at experimenting techniques to improve the profitability of agricultural activities.
His intervention transformed the medieval village by inserting elements of neo-Gothic characters particularly highlighted in the building of the Agenzia in the Pollenzo Real Estate, built next to the castle and facing the square of the Church of San Vittore.
The structure built according to the "internal courtyard" model has two circular little towers on the main faรงade decorated by a walkway on trapdoors and battlements.
At the end of the nineties with the birth of the Slow Food project the estate was restored and the Agenzia in the Pollenzo Real Estate became the headquarters of the University of Gastronomic Sciences, of a hotel, a restaurant and, in the historic cellars, moreover, of the Banca del Vino, designed to build the "historical memory" of the Italian wine.
