Lago della Meja - Valle Maira
A volte in montagna non occorre fare ore di camminata o dislivelli notevoli per raggiungere luoghi incantevoli.
E' questo il caso del Lago della Meja bacino alpino posto a 2455 metri di altitudine nel comune di Canosio, in Valle Maira.
Il laghetto occupa una conca ai piedi del Becco Nero e nelle sue acque, dall'incredibile color verde smeraldo, in alcuni momenti della giornata si specchia la maestosa sagoma piramidale della Rocca La Meja, l'inconfondibile montagna della Valle Maira dalla vetta affilata, costituita da stratificazioni verticali di calcari dolomitici.
E' possibile raggiungere il Lago della Meja attraverso due itinerari: il primo parte dal Colle di Valcavera, in Valle Stura,mentre il secondo inizia al Colle del Preit, poco dopo Canosio, in Valle Maira.
Entrambi gli itinerari sono di facile percorrenza e con un dislivello davvero minimo.
Il panorama qua è davvero meraviglioso e, se si ha la pazienza di fermarsi fino all'ora del tramonto, magico.
Il cielo, sull'Altipiano della Gardetta, è uno dei più bui d’Europa e, grazie all'assenza di inquinamento luminoso, lo scenario notturno è straordinario.
Meja Lake - Maira Valley
Sometimes on the mountains there is no need to walk or climb a lot to reach beautiful places.
This is the case of the Meja Lake, an alpine basin placed at 2455 meters in the municipality of Canosio, in the Maira Valley.
The pond occupies a basin at the foot of the Becco Nero mountain and at certain times of the day in its waters, with an incredible emerald green color, is reflected the majestic pyramidal shape of the Rocca La Meja, the unmistakable mountain of the Maira Valley with its sharp peak, built-up with vertical stratifications of dolomitic limestones.
It is possible to reach the Meja Lake through two routes: the first starts from the Valcavera Pass, in the Stura Valley, while the second begins at Colle del Preit, shortly after Canosio, in the Maira Valley.
Both routes are easy to follow and have very little gradient.
The view here is truly wonderful and, if you have the patience to stop until sunset, magical.
The sky, on the Gardetta Plateau, is one of the darkest in Europe and, thanks to the absence of light pollution, the night scenery is astonishing.
