Serre del Castello di Racconigi
All'estremitร nord del Parco del Castello di Racconigi, tra il 1836 e il 1842, venne realizzata la Margaria, grande complesso agricolo in stile neogotico-romantico inglese fortemente voluto da Re Carlo Alberto e progettato da Pelagio Palagi.
All'interno di questo complesso, vera e propria azienda agricola modello atta alla sperimentazione, furono create anche una cappella, un reposoir per la Regina e, tra il 1844 e il 1848, le Serre del Castello di Racconigi.
Questo grande edificio vetrato, progettato da Carlo Sada anch'esso in stile neogotico, divennero presto famose in tutta Europa grazie alla varietร di specie esotiche che ospitavano: ananas, orchidee, felci e palme.
Le Serre del Castello di Racconigi, inoltre, rappresentarono una struttura all'avanguardia, dove venivano impiegate tecniche allora estremamente moderne, come ad esempio, l'uso di un impianto di riscaldamento con termosifoni.
Oggi le Serre del Castello di Racconigi sono diventate location da favola per eventi, convegni e matrimoni.
Greenhouses of the Racconigi Castle
At the northern end of the Park of the Racconigi Castle, between 1836 and 1842, was built the Margaria, a large agricultural complex in Neo Gothic-Romantic English style strongly desired by King Carlo Alberto and designed by Pelagio Palagi.
Within this complex, a veritable model agricultural company suitable for experimentation,were also created a chapel, a repository for the Queen and, between 1844 and 1848, the Greenhouses of the Racconigi Castle.
This large glass building, designed by Carlo Sada also in neo-gothic style, soon became famous throughout Europe thanks to the variety of exotic species that hosted: pineapples, orchids, ferns and palms.
The Greenhouses of the Racconigi Castle also represented an avant-garde structure, where were used extremely modern techniques, such as the utilization of a heating system with radiators.
Today the Greenhouses of the Racconigi Castle have become fabulous locations for events, conferences and weddings.
