Saut Waterfalls in Pesio Valley
One of the geological aspects that most characterize the Pesio Valley is the karst phenomenon which sees its maximum expression in the Pis del Pesio, waterfall that gives rise to the Pesio, underground stream whose source flows from a cave placed along a vertical wall.
The valley behaves, therefore, like a large container where the waters in the snow melts and rain collects them and which filter from the mountain, flow along canals and finally jump from the cliffs creating in some cases waterfalls.
This is the case of the Saut waterfalls , two water jumps located at about twenty minutes walk from Pian delle Gorre, near the path that leads to the Garelli Refuge.
Like Pis del Pesio, Saut waterfalls also give their best in the early spring when there is the thaw.
The first waterfall, the smallest, can be admired by going up the path that goes into the woods or by going down on the walkway that is located just below the jet.
The second waterfall, a few meters away, has a wooden balcony that allows you to enjoy the show safely.
The Saut waterfalls are part of the ring excursion of the Pesio Valley waterfalls, a simple route that also includes the Pis del Pesio and the Gias Fontana waterfall.
