Roddi Castle
At the highest point of the village of Roddi, in the Langhe, rises the imposing the Roddi Castle .
The birth of a fortification dates from the eleventh century, but the present building was built between the late fourteenth and early fifteenth century on the probable indication of the lords Falletti.
Over the centuries, many owners took turns within its walls, including Gaio Francesco della Mirandola, grandson of the famous Pico della Mirandola.
From 2001 it is owned by the City of Roddi that is working on the restoration.
The architecture of this castle has a typically medieval footprint. The castle is composed of a solid central three-story nucleus raised on an hight escarpment and includes two circular towers, one slim and stylish, the other larger and lower with apparatus to protrude.
The top of the castle presents defensive embrasure.
The walls and the moat are missing, disappeared over time leaving space for the development of the city and the houses built just against the lower part of the building.
