Una facile escursione ad anello che può essere effettuata anche nella stagione invernale con le racchette da neve è l'ascensione al Monte Ribè in Valle Grana.

Questa montagna, alta 1576 metri si trova a nord ovest di Frise, borgata all'interno del comune di Monterosso Grana. La sua posizione, sulla dorsale che separa la Valle Grana dalla secondaria Valle di Comboscuro, regala un panorama eccezionale che diventa magico quando la si raggiunge con la neve.


L'itinerario verso il Monte Ribè inizia a 1200 metri nella borgata di Frise che si raggiunge in auto da Monterosso Grana dopo aver imboccato la strada per Comboscuro ed aver svoltano a sinistra in località Saretto.

Qui, passando di fianco alla chiesa, si sale verso la Scuola Elementare e si segue la strada asfaltata fino alla Borgata Crosasso da dove ha inizio il sentiero sterrato.


Inizia così la salita che prende quota sulla destra, costeggiata qua e là da frassini e abeti che non celano comunque il bel panorama sul Vallone di Comborscuro che a poco a poco si apre. Tralasciando più avanti una traccia che va verso il Bivacco Rosset, il percorso diventa sempre più ripido fino a raggiungere un piccolo colle che si affaccia sulla Valle Grana.

Una sosta per godere il panorama è d'obbligo prima di imboccare il sentiero sulla destra che risale la cresta del Monte Ribè.

Dopo aver attraversato un bel boschetto di faggi il percorso si fa molto più ripido: è il tratto finale della cresta ed in pochi minuti si raggiunge la cima.


Ad attenderci c'è una croce ed un meraviglioso panorama a 360° sull'arco alpino. Di fronte appaiono le cime dei Monti Grum e Bram che dividono la Valle Stura dalla Valle Grana e, più a destra, il Monte Tibert.

Dopo aver firmato il libro di vetta scendiamo a valle.

Per completare l'anello ritorniamo sui nostri passi e dopo la prima grande discesa imbocchiamo il sentiero sulla sinistra che, dopo aver attraversato un declivio prativo scende tra gli alberi fino a raggiungere la Borgata Comba.

Lungo la strada asfaltata si torna a Frise, punto di partenza dell'escursione.

L'anello per la cima del Monte Ribè è di circa 6 km e conta un dislivello di 360 metri. In condizioni di neve richiede circa 2 ore e mezza di cammino.

Hiking to Monte Ribè in Grana Valley

An easy circular hike that can also be done in winter with snowshoes is the ascent to Monte Ribè in Grana Valley.

This mountain, 1576 meters high, is located northwest of Frise, a village within the municipality of Monterosso Grana. Its position, on the ridge that separates the Grana Valley from the secondary Comboscuro Valley, offers an exceptional panorama that becomes magical when it is reached in the snow.

The itinerary towards the Monte Ribè starts at 1200 meters in the hamlet of Frise that can be reached by car from Monterosso Grana after taking the road to Comboscuro and turning left in the locality of Saretto.

Here, passing next to the church, go up towards the Elementary School and follow the paved road to Borgata Crosasso from where begins the dirt path.

Thus begins the climb that rises to the right, flanked here and there by ash and fir trees that do not, however, hide the beautiful view over the Comborscuro Valley that gradually opens up. Leaving a track that goes towards the Rosset Bivouac further on, the path becomes steeper and steeper until you reach a small hill overlooking the Grana Valley.

A stop to enjoy the view is a must before taking the path on the right that goes up the crest of the Monte Ribè.

After crossing a beautiful beech grove the path becomes much steeper: it is the final stretch of the ridge and in a few minutes you reach the top.

At the top there is a cross and a wonderful 360° panorama over the Alps. Opposite you van see the peaks of the Grum and Bram Mountains which divide the Stura Valley from the Grana Valley and, further to the right, Mount Tibert.

After signing the summit book we go down to the valley.

To complete the ring we retrace our steps and after the first great descent we take the path on the left which, after crossing a meadow slope, descends among the trees until we reach the Borgata Comba.

You can return to Frize, the starting point of the excursion, along the asphalted road.

The ring for the top of the Monte Ribè is about 6 km long and has a altitude difference of 360 meters. In snow conditions it takes about 2 and a half hours of walking.
