Rifugio Mongioie - Ormea
Il Rifugio Mongioie si trova a 1520 metri di altitudine, nell'ampio pianoro prativo Pian Rosso, ai piedi del Monte Mongioie e sopra l'abitato di Viozene, nel comune di Ormea, in Alta Val Tanaro.
Lo si può raggiungere attraverso la strada che dalla Chiesa di Viozene porta alla località Piumini e poi procede su sterrata fino a Tetti Pian Rossetto, ai margini del Pian Rosso, oppure con mulattiera che parte da Carnino Inferiore, supera l'omonima colla, attraversa le acque che scendono dalle sorgenti delle Vene scendendo poi verso il rifugio.
Vista la facilità di entrambi i percorsi, nei fine settimana estivi il Rifugio Mongioie è preso d'assalto da comitive di escursionisti e di famiglie, che lo raggiungono per un picnic o per una polentata.
Inaugurato nel 1989 a cura della sezione del Cai di Albenga, è un edificio a due piani con muri in pietra che offre 46 posti letti suddivisi in 5 camere e 80 coperti nella sala al pianterreno riscaldata da un caminetto.
Nel periodo estivo il servizio di bar e ristorante viene esteso anche all'esterno dove si trovano un parco giochi, un box con cavalli ed una palestra di arrampicata.
Oltre ad essere punto di partenza per escursioni di diversa difficoltà, presso il rifugio vengono organizzati corsi di parapendio, arrampicata e attività per le scuole.
Chiuso nel periodo invernale mette comunque a disposizione un bivacco di 4 posti.
Mongioie Refuge - Ormea
The Mongioie Refuge is located at 1520 meters above sea level, in the large grassy plateau called Pian Rosso, at the foot of Mount Mongioie and above the village of Viozene, in the municipality of Ormea, in Alta Tanaro Valley.
It can be reached through the road that leads from the Church of Viozene to Piumini hameau and then proceeds on a dirt patch up to Tetti Pian Rossetto, on the edge of the Pian Rosso, or with a trail that starts from Carnino Inferiore, exceeds the Carnino Pass, crosses the waters that come down from the sources of Le Vene then goes down to the refuge.
As both of this paths are very easily, in the summer weekends the Mongioie Refuge is besieged by groups of hikers and families, who join him for a picnic or a plate of polenta .
Inaugurated in 1989 by the section of Cai Albenga is a two-storey building with stone walls that offers 46 beds divided into 5 rooms and 80 seats in the dining room on the ground floor heated by a fireplace .
During the summer the restaurant and the bar service are also extended to the outside where there is a playground, a box with horses and a climbing gym .
In addition to being the starting point for hikes of varying difficulty, at the refuge are organized courses of paragliding, climbing and activities for schools .
Closed during the winter , however, puts at the disposal a bivouac with 4 seats.
