Castello di Grinzane Cavour - Grinzane Cavour
Situato in posizione predominante su una collina circondata interamente da vigneti il Castello di Grinzane Cavour รจ un massiccio edificio a pianta trapezoidale in mattoni rossi con un alto mastio.
I corpi che compongono il castello si caratterizzano per le diverse volumetrie e sono disposti in modo irregolare intorno ad un piccolo cortile centrale.
Ad abbellire la severitร dell'edificio ci sono due torrette angolari cilindriche, finestre a bifora ed eleganti motivi ad archetto che si rincorrono lungo le pareti.
La sua costruzione originale risale al XI, ma nel corso dei secoli venne piรน volte rimaneggiata ed ampliata passando di proprietร di diverse famiglie nobili.
E' ricordato sopratutto per aver ospitato tra il 1832 e il 1849 Camillo Benso conte di Cavour, che coprรฌ anche la carica di sindaco di Grinzane Cavour e seppe dare un'impronta moderna all'agricoltura locale.
Al suo interno รจ ospitato il Museo Etnografico delle Langhe, l'Enoteca Regionale Piemontese Cavour, un ristorante ed un'area congressi.
Il castello รจ stato per molti anni la sede del Premio Letterario Grinzane Cavour ed annualmente la splendida Sala delle Maschere diventa lo scenario per l'Asta Mondiale del Tartufo Bianco d'Alba.
Grinzane Cavour Castle
Located in a dominant position on a hill entirely surrounded by vineyards the Grinzane Cavour Castle is a massive trapezoidal shaped building made in red brick with a high tower.
The bodies that make up the castle are characterized by different volumes and are arranged in an irregular manner around a small central courtyard.
To embellish the severity of the building there are two cylindrical corner turrets, mullioned windows and elegant bow motifs that run along the walls.
Its original construction dates back to the XI, but over the centuries it was rebuilt and enlarged several times passing owned by many noble families.
It's mainly remembered for having hosted, between 1832 and 1849, thr Count Camillo Benso of Cavour, which covered also the role of the mayor of Grinzane gaving a modern footprint to the local agriculture.
Inside it there are the Ethnographic Museum of the Langhe, the Enoteca Regionale Piemontese Cavour, a restaurant and a conference area.
The castle was for many years the seat of the annual literary prize "Grinzane Cavour" and the splendid Hall of Masks is the setting for the Auction World White Truffle of Alba.
